Rekindling my Spirit

My niece, Lauren heard I was still sick with pneumonia, and sent me this beautiful flower arrangement. The little girl with Santa is me.

The next day her mom surprised me with this lovely Christmas arrangement.

Trying to lift my spirits yesterday, I took the flowers outside to photograph hoping the images will inspired me to paint.

It was four weeks ago that I was diagnosed with pneumonia, and I have to say it has not been fun. My head is so ready to get moving again but my body isn't cooperating. I still have a persistent cough and lack energy. Thursday my doctor recommended that I shouldn't return to work until after the holidays. To say that I'm not fighting depression would be a lie. Yesterday I took a few photographs and went on a short walk outside with my husband. It felt so good to get out of the house. This morning I ordered Heather Smith Jone's new book, Water Paper Paint in another attemp to lift my spirits. Todays goal is getting my watercolors out and painting my flowers. Wish me luck...

  1. I am so sorry to hear you are so sick. A cold or the flu is bad enough but at least after a few days you know you will be better. Pneumonia is nothing to fool around with.

    Take good care of yourself.
    Get well soon.

    Lovely flowers, by the way.

  3. I'm sorry to hear that you've been so sick. Four weeks is a long time and it's no wonder that your spirits are low. I'm glad that you've had some cheer sent to you. The flowers are beautiful. I hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself! Cozy under a blanket on the sofa with a hot cup of tea and watch all those movies you meant to see but just never had the time to do so.

  4. I hope you're on the road to recovery. i had pneumonia last March and I've been off ever since. i have some other illnesses that complicated things. The flowers should inspire you to paint. It really helps with the depression to have that creative vent.

  5. Oh dear. I am very sorry that you've been sick. Susanna is right. Four weeks is a long time to be feeling bad. I hope that you are up and about very soon, but do take this time to catch up on all the things you've wanted to when you were too busy.
    Take care!
