In memory of all the great teachers
that inspired, motivated and opened our eyes to the importance of knowledge.
Four students and myself have been busy creating cigar box shrines that we will donate to Rebecca's Shrine Auction. The auction will be raising funds for the education of street children in
Oaxaca, Mexico.
As an educator I decided to create a shrine to honor my inspirational teacher/friend, Marlene Scott. She was an accomplished fine art artist/teacher that I am proud to say made a difference in my life.
All this week I will be posting my students' shrines.

Karen!! What a lovely tribute to all the teachers, including Frida, who continues to teach us. I love enlarging the images so I can really take in every detail.

This is a beautiful shrine!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing a blog post on your shrine project. It is nice you memorialized your artist friend the way you did in this art piece. I am looking forward to seeing your student's shrines later.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant shrine idea, Karen. Wish I had thought of it. You are certainly getting into the swing of things....and pulling your husband along for the ride. I love it all.
