Festive / Festival

The Festive Tree

I thought I had more time... It was about three O'clock today after shopping with my children all day, when I realized that the deadline for Mr. Toast's Creative Tuesday had to be posted by tonight! Good lord it's my first project with the group, and I hadn't done anything.
What was I going to do? It was a quick dash downstairs to my studio were I found a linoleum print done in my Studio Art class last week. I grabbed a few pastel pencils to add some color and Ta...Da, The Festive Tree.

  1. Your tree is beautifu AND festive. I love the idea of the stark tree with the vivid colored ornaments. It makes me think maybe we should be decorating the bare trees, they need it more : ) And I like the way the star radiates so much light upwards.
    Wonderful entry!

  4. Love it! And you just threw this together, eh? Well, I appreciate the fact you coloured it especially for the project and that even though already drawn it was recent and perfect for "festive!' I love this style of woodcut, btw--would love to know more about how you dreate something like this.

you know what else I enjoy about your piece, other than the very large baubles? I really enjoy the etchy feeling border with your scratchy signature in the corner. Thank you too for that extra bit of inspiration for us all, soon starting the next Creative Tuesday. I can't wait to see what you do for it.

I have noted the icon too and will give you two entries for the drawing. Exciting.

I am just about to write up the post for tomorrow and will announce the new theme, as well as place your name and a link to this post on my side bar so watch out for that soon. Thank you so much for joining in.
